On my windows server 2008 64, satellite crashes with an unhandled exception.
Any idea why?

Dear Jose,
Satellite is actually designed to be executed on workstations only, are you using Windows 2008 Server as your personal workstation?

Jose,
I have just quickly tested the very latest TypingMaster Satellite under Win2008 and it was working OK (at least with Notepad), please let me know the steps required to cause the crash.
P.S. Have you considered Win7 yet, I installed it sometime ago and really like it!

Interesting. Now it works for me. Not in notepad though
I guess one of the apps on the tray I have conflicts with typing master. Not sure how to pinpoint it, but I'll tell you if I find it.

Aha! I found a way to reproduce the crash. As soon as total commander 7.5 gets focus, boom!
Well, TC is my most used application. I hope you find a solution. A possibility, if everything else fails, would be to implement a 'ignore' list.
What do you think?

Thank you for pointing out the incompatibility issue with Total Commander.
We actually made the compatibility fix for this product already in 2007, the key question is now if you are using outdated version of TypingMaster or if the problem has somehow came back? Please let me know the EXE name of TC 7.5

Hi,
I was unable to reproduce any crash with TypingMaster Satellite and Total Commander - see attachment.
I would suggest you try reinstalling the latest version of TypingMaster from:
http://www.typingmaster.com/gettmpro.asp
And also possibly try reinstalling Total Commander.

Hi,
Seems to work fine now. The only new thing I did was to apply windows server 2008 updates. It's nice that it's solved this easily!

Well, false alarm. Works on lappy, not on desktop.
There might be something different between those machines, and typingMaster interacts with it. The desktop is always up-to-date, the laptop not so much.
Maybe some recent updates borked typingMaster/TC interaction?
Any idea what we can try next?

found the problem. TypingMaster is incompatible with winSplit revolution.
Hope that helps.

actually, winSplit revolution is innocent. I'm still trying to find the culprit. One other difference is the antivirus: Sophos on one, Norton on the other. I disabled Sophos but still no dice. This is really starting to cost me more time than it's reasonable to spend. I'll monitor the thread, but will do no more bug hunting in my own.

alternatively, you could create a debug version that saves a dump. I'm being very systematic removing apps in the background etc, but still no luck (!)

Thank you for additional testing, I have now contacted TC to check if they the some ideas, it seems that problem may be related to VERSION RESOURCE block of TC executable.

Hello, no reply from author yet, however we are setting up the similar test environment (Win2008 Std R2 64bit with TC 7.5a) to reproduce the issue locally.

The quick quality test was passed, no problems at all with TC 7.5a version and Satellite feature under Win2008R2.
Please see the attached screen capture how the Satellite is monitoring TC's text box.
I am sorry, but we cannot investigate this case more without more detailed information, crash can be related to some 3rd party applications / drivers / etc.

If you send me a debug built ow typingMaster, I'll be happy to run it here.
I'm more inclined to think this is a drivers issue, because I did get it to work on my laptop with the exact same applications running.
It all depends on how much you want to track this bug down.
I'm going to write a post soon on learning colemak, and would like to recommend typingMaster, if we get it to work.
