Sini Posts 23	Adult beginners usually type at around 15 to 25 Words per Minute (net) = 75 to 125 Characters per Minute, depending on their familiarity with computers. Although their gross typing speed may be quite fast, their accuracy percentage is usually way below 90% and they use the backspace and delete buttons a lot which results in slower speed. The hunt-and-peck keyboarding also creates tension in the neck, shoulders and arms and can become very uncomfortable. During and immediately after completing a course, typing speed does not usually show huge improvements in terms of speed (on average about 10% improvement), but typing accuracy has improved to around 90-93% and users feel the benefits of a more ergonomic keyboard use take effect. Our experience is that after completing the "Touch typing course" for the alpha-numeric keyboard and learning the touch typing technique, it'll take 1 to 2 months for fluent typing skills to develop, depending on how much typing is done daily. During the next month or two of using the newly acquired skill in practice, users will see their typing speed develop fast and should reach levels around 40 WPM = 200 CPM without problems. We believe setting the goal to 40 WPM is realistic and acceptable on the short term. The touch typing course we offer with TypingMaster is targeted for 6-9 hours of use depending on lesson duration set by the Administrator (we recommend a 15-30 minute daily sessions). This is specifically designed as we have found that generally more time than this frankly becomes boring for the user. We find they lose interest and there are no significant improvements in speed or accuracy over longer periods of time. Once people have the skills they tend to prefer to use them in practical work rather than the simulated exercises we provide for them. The real skills development should thus come from review practice with the program and more importantly from regular use of the new skill in daily work. Over extended period of time, people who learn the touch typing technique and use it for normal daily typing usually end up typing around speed of 60 WPM = 300 CPM net.
