when I do a part (especially sentence drill) I find however hard I try I cannot reach the accuracy goal and I cannot reduce the speed beyond a certain limit.
then I try again and I still fail.
and again and again i fail.
Should I advance to next parts hoping to correct the errors I make in later reviews or should I keep trying till I barely make it ?
Also should I accept if in this situation the box turns up saying "excellent progress!" or should I ignore it and continue to increase the accuracy rating(I fear to risk making mistakes and drop accuracy below the goal again) ?

Hi,

Our experience is that when learning to type taking frequent breaks and typing fairly slowly is better than trying to type fast. In this case, I do think that it would be best for you to either try to slow down even more or disregard the accuracy target level. You can even turn the accuracy goal off when offered or by going to the "Course Contents" page and clicking on "Turn off optimal duration".

The most important thing is to not get get discouraged, you will improve steadily as you continue with the course and gradually build your skills and confidence. Doing the drills is not a test, you can take your time and relax - as long as you practice regularly, the finger movements will eventually go to your muscle memory.

Moving on in the program is a good motivator so if I were you, I would maybe turn off the accuracy targets and just move on in the drills without paying too much attention to accuracy and speed.

If you do keep the goals on and reach the target level (message "excellent progress!", congratulate yourself and continue to the next exercise.
